MOICANNA was an earlier publishing and visual project around Cannabis Education and Culture. Some of its material — books, prototypes, images and educational concepts — now lives on inside LIBERA HERBA.
The name changed. The work continued.
Cannabis culture was built through borrowed, shortened, coded and repeated words. Some words become common before they become commercial.
Some words are born in fields, shops, fairs, catalogues, forums and whispered conversations before they ever reach a trademark office.
Canna is one of those words.
A shared word should not become a private gate.

This is why MOICANNA belongs in the Herbarium.
Not only as a name.
Not only as a publishing project.
It belongs as a reminder that plant culture is also language culture.
A shared word may become valuable.
It should not become invisible to the people
who helped give it meaning.
Factual Note
Words such as canna and cannabis have circulated across botanical, commercial, cultural and informal language for many years. Questions of trade mark ownership are separate from the broader cultural history of a word and should be assessed through the relevant legal process.
